Our
History
The idea for the Foundation for
the Advancement of Children's Esthetics was developed by
Jacksonville, FL physicians Juan F. Garcia, Roberto E. Garcia and J.
Phillip Garcia in 2002.
Drs. Phillip and Roberto Garcia
are privileged to be facial plastic surgeons who have served North
Florida for six years. Much of the work that Drs. Garcia
perform is for children who do not have means to pay for services.
This very gratifying community service lead our team to begin
conducting community awareness programs such as dog bite prevention
seminars and skin cancer awareness seminars.
In the course of taking care of
needy children from North and Central Florida at Wolfson Children's Hospital the Drs. Garcia
encountered many needy children from Central and South America as
well as the Caribbean who lacked access to specialized medical
services. Based on this need, the doctors began to create an
extension of their services to these needful areas of the world.
The creation of the FACE team has
allowed our physicians and dentists to conduct missions that offer life-changing
treatments to children throughout the Western Hemisphere.
Our current success in generating
volunteer
support for our charitable services has allowed the FACE team to
initiate a surgical outreach mission in Ecuador and El Salvador. This
initiative is intended to utilize the latest advances in tele-medicine to
effectively train and monitor medical professionals in remote
locations and improve medical education.
