Frequently Asked Questions for FACE
1. Who are the doctors that make up the FACE team?
Our team is made up of facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons and cosmetic dentists from all around Florida.
2. What are the main missions of FACE?
FACE has several missions. Our largest mission to date has been taking care of indigent and uninsured children in the North Florida area who have had facial trauma (dog bites, automobile accidents) as well as those who have congenital facial deformities. We also take trips abroad to countries like Ecuador and El Salvador and take care of patients with a myriad of reconstructive problems.
Another mission of FACE is to educate physicians from foreign countries in modern surgical techniques so that they are able to provide those services to their own patients.

3. Is FACE a charitable organization?
Yes. FACE is a non-profit organization and is filed with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501-c-3 public charity [ID # 20-2639793].
4. How do you take care of local FACE patients?
Local charitable cases are either taken care of at the Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery Institute in Jacksonville, Florida or are taken to the operating room at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
5. Can a FACE patient that is not from Jacksonville come to the area to see the volunteer physicians?
Yes. We ask however that all travel arrangements, lodging and food be taken care of by the patients or their families. If you need assistance with any of the above, one of our team members can help in arranging contacts who may be able to volunteer and help with these needs
in the area.
6.- How does FACE help children in Florida?
In addition to providing surgical care for children at our FACE facilities, we help children in need by working with physicians in rural, underserved Florida hospitals. These physicians are invited to spend time in one of our facilities learning advanced techniques in Cranio-Facial and reconstructive surgery of the face. These FACE fellowship graduates return to their rural hospitals with specific skills to improve the quality of care for their patients. Through our IT network, FACE provides local surgeons with a continuing medical education resource and access to guidance from participating doctors worldwide.
7. How does FACE help educate physicians from abroad?
We do this in two ways. Many times we work with local physicians and surgeons as we take trips abroad in a cooperative effort to take care of patients. We also have 2 week
preceptor
ships available at our Jacksonville facility for physicians who wish to learn more detailed and extensive knowledge about some of the procedures we perform.
8. Does FACE accept contributions?
Yes. We accept tax-deductible contributions from corporate as well as private donors. If you would like to make a contribution, please
